Khun Suek Muay Thai is owned by a prominent local businessman, who also owns the Lae Lay Grill – which is located about 60 meters from the gym.

It opened in 2020, and the facility is a combination of a hostel and a Muay Thai gym with spectacular hilltop ocean views.

Location

The gym is situated in the popular Ao Nang area of Krabi province. Specifically, it’s atop a hill between Ao Nang Beach and Noppharat Thara Beach, about 700 m from each, and 400meters from Pakasai Resort.

Address: 89/1 Moo 3, Ao Nang, Mueang Krabi, Krabi 81180

The Ao Nang area in Krabi attracts a lot of tourists, but it has a more laid back vibe than nearby Phuket. The main beach isn’t nearly as nice as the ones you’d find in Phuket, but for 100 baht (each way), you can take a longtail boat from Ao Nang beach to Railay beach, which is much nicer and is surrounded by impressive limestone cliffs.

Trainers and Fighters at Khun Suek Muay Thai

The Khun Suek gym primarily caters to tourists, so you won’t find a stacked roster of high level fighters who are prepping for Bangkok stadium fights here. That being said, there are some who drop in periodically, most notably, Superbon and his trainer (Gae).

I’ve also seen photos of legends of the sport like Samart Payakaroon and Somrak Khamsing giving seminars there, so you never know who might be around if you decide to train here.

The gym can get quite busy, so they staff a team of almost 20 trainers. Their profiles on the website mention how many private sessions they’ve done with students, which is quite a unique metric to track.

The standout trainer in terms of fight accomplishments is Kru Pek-Eak, who has won titles from Omnoi, Channel 7 and Rajadamnern Stadium.

Facility, Prices and Accommodation

The facility is several levels, and it has both a hostel and a training area (in addition to a lounge and a bar). The training area also has a strength training section.

The hostel, as you’d expect, is quite affordable as the rooms are shared. If you’d like a private room, there are several options within walking distance.

Here’s a list of nearby options that they recommend.

Here’s a list of the prices for their training packages.

If you’re not interested in a package and just want to drop in for a session, the price for that is currently 600 baht. Of course, prices are always subject to change so best to check before you go if you want to be sure.
